Namesake Studio Policies
Effective date: October 30, 2026
Contact: Contact us through our website.
Welcome to Namesake! We want everyone to feel comfortable learning, creating, and building confidence. Please review these policies before booking a session, visiting the studio, or making a purchase. Each listing explains the specific requirements and what is included.
Booking and payment
Full payment is required to reserve your seat. A booking is confirmed once checkout is complete and you receive an order confirmation. Seats are limited to registered participants; each person using a workstation needs their own booking.
Review the date, time, location, skill level, and supply requirements before purchasing. Contact us if your confirmation does not arrive, and keep your confirmation available for check in. Session times are listed in Atlanta local time unless stated otherwise.
Class cancellations and refunds
Class and workshop tickets are nonrefundable if you cancel, miss your session, or leave early, except where a refund is required by applicable law. Your booking reserves a limited seat and allows us to prepare supplies and instruction for your session.
If Namesake cancels your session, you may choose a full refund or transfer to another available session. If we change the scheduled date or time and you cannot attend, you may choose a full refund instead of a transfer or credit. Refunds are returned to the original payment method; processing time depends on your payment provider.
Rescheduling and ticket transfers
Rescheduling requests must be received at least 48 hours before the session begins. One transfer to another available session of the same value is permitted per booking. Any price difference must be paid before confirmation. Requests received within 48 hours and missed sessions do not qualify for a transfer or credit.
You may transfer your ticket to another eligible participant by contacting us before the session begins. The replacement participant must meet the class prerequisites. Transfers are not confirmed until Namesake acknowledges the change.
Arrival and late attendance
Please at designated time to check in and settle into your workstation. Sessions begin and end at the scheduled times.
A 7 minute grace period applies after the scheduled start time. Participants arriving more than 7 minutes late may be unable to join if they have missed essential instruction or safety guidance. Late arrival does not extend your session or qualify for a refund or credit. Contact us as soon as possible if you are running late.
Skill levels and prerequisites
Level 1 welcomes beginners with no sewing experience. Classes with prerequisites require completion of the listed introductory class or advance approval from Namesake based on equivalent experience.
Please book a session appropriate for your skill level. If you are unsure, contact us before purchasing. We may be unable to accommodate a participant who has not met the requirements, and the cancellation and transfer policies still apply.
Machines materials and personal garments
Studio machines and the materials listed in your class description are provided. Some sessions require you to bring a garment, fabric, notions, or other supplies. For tee shirt alterations, bring your own oversized tee shirt. Review the listing for any additional requirements.
Use clean personal garments that you are comfortable altering. Sewing and alterations may involve permanent cutting, stitching, or seam removal. Discuss your plan with the instructor before making irreversible changes. Results vary with fabric, garment construction, project complexity, and experience; completion within one session is not guaranteed.
Bring Your Own Machine sessions
For sessions labeled Bring Your Own Machine, bring your machine, power cord, foot pedal, compatible bobbins, and instruction manual if available. Your machine should be clean and in working order.
We can help you learn to operate your machine within the session scope. Mechanical repairs, servicing, and parts replacement are not included. Contact us before booking if your machine has an existing issue; a replacement studio machine is subject to availability.
Study hall and open practice
Study hall provides time to practice familiar skills, ask questions, and receive brief guidance. It does not include a full lesson or continuous one on one instruction. Complete Level 1 or obtain approval before booking machine practice.
Arrive with a specific skill or project to work on and bring any project supplies required by the listing. Instructor support is shared among participants. Complex projects may require a separate class or private session.
Use only the workstation and equipment assigned to you. Ask for approval before using unfamiliar tools or machines. Your booking covers the listed session time, including cleanup; additional time requires a separate available booking.
Studio safety and equipment care
Follow instructor guidance when using sewing machines, irons, scissors, rotary cutters, and other tools. Keep fingers clear of needles and cutting blades. Turn off machines before changing needles or performing maintenance, and ask for help if you are unsure.
Do not force equipment, adjust internal components, or attempt repairs. Stop immediately and notify the instructor if equipment jams, breaks, overheats, or behaves unexpectedly.
Keep walkways clear, secure loose hair and clothing, and wear footwear suitable for operating a foot pedal. Food stays away from machines and fabric; drinks must have secure lids. Smoking, vaping, and participation while impaired are not permitted.
Treat shared tools with care. Report damage promptly. Ordinary wear and accidental equipment issues should be reported without hesitation. Intentional damage or misuse may result in removal from the session and a request to cover documented repair or replacement costs.
Assumption of risk and release of liability
IMPORTANT — THIS SECTION AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. READ IT BEFORE PURCHASING OR PARTICIPATING.
Sewing and studio activities involve risks of injury, including cuts, punctures, needle injuries, burns from irons or other heated equipment, injuries from moving machine parts, falls, and other bodily injuries. These injuries may be serious. By purchasing a class for yourself and expressly accepting this waiver before checkout, you acknowledge these risks and voluntarily assume the risks associated with your participation in Namesake classes, workshops, study hall, and use of studio tools and equipment.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you release Namesake and its operating legal entity, owners, instructors, employees, and agents from claims for personal injury arising from your participation in these activities, including claims caused by their ordinary negligence. You agree not to sue these released parties for claims covered by this release. This release does not cover gross negligence, reckless or intentional misconduct, or any liability or rights that cannot legally be waived.
You agree to follow safety instructions, use equipment only as directed, ask for assistance when unsure, and report injuries or unsafe conditions immediately.
Each adult participant must personally accept this waiver before participating, including when someone else purchases their ticket. Purchasing a ticket for another person does not establish that person’s acceptance. A parent or legal guardian must complete separate participation consent and any legally valid waiver required for a child; an accompanying adult who is not a parent or legal guardian cannot provide that consent solely by accompanying the child.
Respectful conduct and guests
Namesake is a welcoming space for learning. Harassment, discrimination, threats, bullying, and disruptive behavior are not permitted. Respect others’ personal space, belongings, projects, and learning pace.
Unregistered guests and spectators require advance approval because space and supervision are limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout their visit. Please tell us before the session if an adult will accompany a child so we can arrange seating. An accompanying adult needs a separate booking if they will also participate or use a workstation. Animals are not permitted except service animals as allowed by applicable law.
We may pause participation or ask someone to leave for unsafe or seriously disruptive conduct. Removal for these reasons does not qualify for a refund, except where required by law.
Youth participation
There is no set minimum age requirement. Every child must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the entire class, practice session, or studio visit. Children may not be dropped off or left unattended. A parent or legal guardian must complete any required registration and consent for a minor.
The accompanying adult is responsible for helping the child follow studio rules and safety instructions. Each child participating needs their own booking. Contact us before booking if you have questions about whether a session suits your child’s experience and support needs.
Accessibility and support
Contact us before booking if you need an accommodation, assistance accessing the studio, or information about equipment and seating. We will discuss available options and any limitations so you can make an informed decision.
Let your instructor know immediately if you feel unwell, need a break, or cannot safely use a tool. Please contact us before attending if illness may affect your participation or others; the published cancellation and transfer terms apply unless we confirm an exception in writing.
Photography and recording
Ask permission before photographing or recording another participant or their work. Recording an entire lesson or distributing class recordings requires written permission from Namesake.
We may request permission to photograph or film sessions for promotional use. You may decline promotional photography without affecting your participation. Promotional use of an identifiable minor’s image requires permission from their parent or legal guardian.
Personal belongings and cleanup
Keep your personal belongings with you and label your supplies. Take your garments, projects, and tools home at the end of your session. Contact us promptly about missing items; storage between sessions must be arranged in advance.
Allow time to clear your workstation, dispose of thread and fabric scraps, return shared tools, and switch off equipment as instructed. Leave the space ready for the next person.
All sales final and no refunds
All sales are final. Namesake does not offer refunds for physical or digital products, including merchandise, sewing kits, patterns, downloads, online courses, class tickets, and workshop bookings. Please review your selection, product details, and session requirements before completing your purchase.
Physical products may not be returned for a refund. Digital purchases are nonrefundable whether or not you have downloaded the materials or accessed the course. Class rescheduling and ticket transfers are governed by the separate terms above and do not create a right to a refund.
If an item arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, or you cannot access a digital purchase, contact us with your order number and relevant details so we can investigate and arrange an appropriate solution. This policy does not limit any remedy required by applicable law.
Shipping and order issues
Available delivery methods, shipping charges, and processing estimates are shown at checkout or in the product listing. Preorder and made to order timelines are listed separately. Carrier transit estimates are not guaranteed delivery dates.
Check your shipping address before paying. Contact us immediately if it needs to change; changes may not be possible after dispatch. For missing, delayed, damaged, or incorrect orders, contact us with your order number so we can investigate and explain the next steps.
Online courses and digital resources
Course descriptions state the access period, included materials, equipment requirements, and available instructor support. Do not assume that purchasing an online course includes studio access or in person instruction.
Digital purchases are for the registered purchaser’s personal learning. Do not share account credentials, resell downloads, or reproduce or distribute Namesake lessons, patterns, or teaching materials without written permission. Any permission to sell items made from a Namesake pattern will be stated with that pattern.
All online courses, digital downloads, and other digital products are final sale and nonrefundable, whether or not you access or download them. Contact us if you have technical trouble accessing a purchase. Any completion certificate recognizes participation or course completion; it is not an accredited professional qualification unless expressly stated.
Promotions bundles and credits
Promotion, bundle, gift card, and credit conditions are disclosed with the offer or at checkout, including eligibility, use restrictions, and any permitted expiration date. Discounts do not apply retroactively unless the offer says otherwise. Contact us before purchasing if you are unsure whether an offer applies.
Private bookings and special events
Private lessons, group bookings, offsite programs, and special events may have separate written terms covering deposits, guest counts, supplies, scheduling, and cancellations. Those terms will be provided before payment and govern that booking where they differ from this page.
Policy updates and questions
We may update these policies for future purchases and bookings. The terms disclosed when you purchase apply to that purchase unless we agree otherwise with you or a change is required by law. These policies do not remove rights provided by applicable law.
